This has been confirmed as a promotional film based on the upcoming cinematic reimagining of Mortal Kombat. While I liked the original movie for its over the top fun, this new take seems to be trying to give us a more down-to-earth approach. It's gritty, dark and sweaty... not that there's anything wrong with that...
